What are iPSCs and Why?

Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) are unique cells with the ability to self-renew indefinitely and be turned into any desired cell type in the body in the lab. Human iPSCs have similar properties to human embryonic stem cells (ESCs).

Cell Replacement Therapy

Human iPSCs represent a starting source of cells that can be used to derive an unlimited quantity of human islet cells, which is a promising alternative cell replacement therapy for diabetes patients.
